Canadian electronic duo Crystal Castles are set to take the Electric Factory by storm this Tuesday October 2nd as a stop on their North American tour in promotion of their upcoming release, III. They recently confirmed that the album will be released digitally November 5th and physically November 6th. The album’s second single, “Wrath of God,” was uploaded to the band’s Soundcloud just a few days ago. “Plague,” III’s first single, accompanied by a chilling and almost violent music video, was also unveiled via Soundcloud on July 5th. The band have been debuting exclusive tracks to European audiences all summer.
With this release, Ethan Kath and Alice Glass had cast the synthesizers and keyboards so typical of their genre and opted to record everything straight to tape. “We’d limit ourselves to one take on each song because we believe the first take is the rawest expression of an idea,” Ethan explains. The pair promise to bring a plagued, more oppressed record than their previous albums, I and II. Alice elaborates on how her dwindling faith in humanity has inspired the tracks. “A lot of bad things have happened to people close to me since II and it’s profoundly influenced my writing as I’ve realized there will never be justice for them.”
